Jaunted recently underwent a visit The Museum of Bad Art in Boston (nearby Dedham, MA, actually). The museum is located outside the men's bathroom in the 1927 theater that houses the Dedham Community Theater. Screw the hoity-toity ICA, MOBA is for a pleaser for the hoi-polloi. Among the illustrious works is the above pictured piece "Think Again." According to the online catalogue the piece The chilling, matter-of-fact manner in which the subject presents the severed head to us is a poignant reminder of just how numb we have become. The understated violence implicit in the scene speaks volumes on our own desensitization, our society's reflexive use of force, and the artist's inability to deal with the hindquarters of the animal. No word though on the gender/racial implications of the juxtaposition of LaToya Jackson and the disembodied horse head. That, dear viewer, is up to you.
