Top rated Zhejiang University, established in 1897, is one of China's oldest universities. In 2011, Zhejiang University was named the top university in the country. In 1952, the school was split into multiple single-discipline colleges. In 1998, the new Zhejiang University was established from a merger of four major universities in Hangzhou. Approximately 43,000 students attend Zhejiang, or ZJU. These include 25,000 undergraduates and 16,000 graduate students. More than 4,000 international students are enrolled at Zhejiang University. This comprehensive national university offers 110 undergraduate degrees, 264 master's degree programs, and 181 doctoral degree programs. Zhejiang University has several campuses throughout Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
