This chair was named after the technique of knitting sleeves or socks “In the Round.” In order to upholster a chair completely with only one knit sleeve, the tubular steel frame had to be formed in one continuous line that closes in a loop. Careful attention was paid to the seat so that enough surface area would ensure comfort. Over fifty feet, or fifteen meters, of wool sleeve is required since the felting process causes substantial shrinkage. The chair is available in either solid colours or in stripes. The striped felt makes each chair unique.

A Brazilian version of a Bauhaus classic, Paulo Mendes da Rocha’s Paulistano Chair (1957) is a piece that holds its own with the iconic cantilevered armchairs from Alvar Aalto, Mart Stam, Mies van der Rohe and other European classics. This chair was not available in the U.S. market until 2006. Details that make a difference are the signature of this architect. The frame, a continuous 17-foot piece of solid stainless steel, is shaped under 200 lbs of hydraulic pressure over 24 hours. The result is a sinuous structure welded in a single spot and wrapped in almost an entire hide of leather that will gain depth and luster as it ages. Exceptionally comfortable, the Paulistano flexes slightly and can be adjusted for upright or relaxed sitting positions by shifting the sling up or down the frame. The stainless steel frame is hand-machine polished and may exhibit markings consistent with hand craftsmanship. The frame in phosphatized carbon steel, which is the original raw material used in 1957, is slightly rough to the touch and will oxidize slowly with time. This was the intent of the architect, who wants the appearance to evolve, believing the charm of a piece of furniture resides in its

Steel wire is deliciously airy, visually pliant and weather reilient in brilliant modular furniture by celebrated designer Stephen Burks. Hand-woven in South Africa by artisans working closely with the designer, TaTu meshes traditional with urbane. Coffee Table breaks down into a large tray, bowl and basket; Side Table becomes a medium tray, bowl and trash can. One piece stackable stool complements the collection providing the required seating. added on 2007-11-26

Design: Michiel van der Kley

Globus is a mobile workspace (flex space) with two appearances. Closed, Globus shows a fascinating and intriguing shape, concealing its function and arousing curiosity. Open, the design appears to be an inviting and multifunctional workspace. The Globus could therefore be described as a flexible, mobile, all-in-one workspace. Fitted out with a filing space, working desk, and comfortable swivel chair, it is the perfect day-in-day-out workspace: a product arisen from a vision of the ultimate flexible and mobile workspace. added on 2007-11-16

Today you can find a variety of products with rococo shapes in new materials. But no attempts to modernize the shape itself. This is the concept of Smånsk Neo Rococo. Truly modern products with the visual qualities of an ornamented style like the rococo. The table “Jean Pape” and the commode “Haupt” are derived from pixelated original rococo blueprints. To meet the modern, simplification seemed the right way to go. To achieve this we lowered the resolution, and numbers of polygons in models of authentic rococo furniture. added on 2007-10-25
