When I was a little kid, I remember visiting my grandparent's home and they had one of those old-school metal fans. Not only could it move massive volumes of air, it could sharpen a wooden log into a fine point and your whole arm if you weren't careful. It was about 50 years old then and is probably still running somewhere today. Unlike the endless plastic disposable garbage we see today, it was created in an era when you could actually own a quality built machine meant to last forever. Well, long-lasting quality and classic style have once again returned with the Vornado Vintage Silver Swan Oscillating Fan ($130).

Just look at the legendary style and the nostalgic streamlined design of this solid metal construction, brushed chrome finish fan. It's like something straight out of the 1930s Art Deco period or Machine Age. Now imagine it sitting on your desk at the office or in your home, cooling you down during those sweltering hot and hazy humid summer days. It features deep pitch blades housed in solid die-cast metal (much safer than the old days) for whisper-quiet soothing operation, oscillation control, tilt adj added on 2008-03-12
